STONE MOUNTAIN, Ga. - Mr. Albert "Al" Clark, 76, of Stone Mountain, died March 4, 2008, after a six-month battle with cancer.

He is survived by his devoted wife of 52 years, Geraldine Portwood Clark, formerly of Thomson; his son and daughter-in-law, Rick and Sandee Clark, grandson, Austin and granddaughter, Savannah, all of Woodstock; his daughter and son-in-law, Robin and Tim Norris of Avondale Estates; his sister-in-love, Leila Nunnally of Thomson.

Al was an all-star athlete at Buford High School. He graduated from the University of Georgia in 1953, then served in the Navy until 1955. He was a teacher and coach at West Fulton High School from 1955 to 1957 and Clarkston High school, from 1958 to 1966. In 1966 he became the principal at Mountain Park Elementary School in Lilburn. After his retirement in 1983, Al enjoyed playing golf at Mystery Valley Golf Course where he was also a starter/marshal. Other hobbies Al shared with his wife included dealing craps and blackjack at casino parties, cooking and caring for their immaculate yard.

Interment services were held at Melwood Cemetery in Stone Mountain on Saturday, March 8, at 2 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in his memory to Odyssey Healthcare, 2362 Lawrenceville Highway, Decatur, GA 30033, where Al and his family were cared for with love and respect.
