WARRENTON, Ga. -- Mrs. Evelyn Brown Newsome, 80, of Warrenton, entered into rest March 11, 2005 at Thomson Manor. She was the daughter of the late Carl Fleming and the late Maud Wells Fleming.
Survivors include a son, Robert "Boone" Fleming Brown (Holly) of Harlem; one daughter, Marcia Brown Gilmer (J.R.) of Thomson; four grandchildren: Emily Brown Milburn (Keith), Farrar Verdery Brown, Callie Grace Gilmer, and Clinton Bruce Gilmer and a number of nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Duncan Brown, Jr., son, Robert Duncan Brown and her brother, Carl Stephens Fleming.
Mrs. Newsome was born in Hancock County, Ga., but lived in Warren County most of her life. She was the first Public Health Nurse in Warren County and retired from Gracewood Hospital. Mrs. Newsome was also a very talented artist, member of First United Methodist Church in Warrenton, a member of the Mamie Evans Sunday School Class and a member of the Allie Massengale Circle.
Graveside services were held at 2 p.m. Sunday, March 13, 2005 at Sallie Hill Cemetery Warrenton, Ga. with Rev. Allen Stewart officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the First United Methodist Church Building Fund, 412 E. Main Street, Warrenton, Ga., 30828.
Beggs Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
