The Mesena/Mesena UM Church & Friends Team has 16 team members and they are anxiously awaiting the overnight rally to be on April 29-30 at the City Park in Warrenton.Having a team and being on a team is more than for show only. We have already gathered recipes, written and published a cookbook and have money banked for this year's contributions to the American Cancer Society.
If you have not gotten your copy of the Mesena team cookbook, get one today. We just have a few left. Other fund raisers coming up are:
March 19 at 9 a.m. near Miss Jane's in Warrenton -- bake sale
April 2 at 9 a.m. Camak Railroad Days -- bake sale
We also have the purple "Celebrate Life" wrist bands for a $3.00 donation. They will be available at both bake sales or until we sell out.
There are tentative plans for Dinner Theater to be held at Mesena United Methodist Church in mid April.
We have scheduled 8 p.m. on rally night for our Mesena trio to sing. It is also hoped that we will have a humorist.
Plans are underway for our campsite decorations; you will see butterflies everywhere. And our food booth now has cooks and helpers. Be sure to eat with us on April 29. We will be serving hot dogs, hamburgers, french fries, pickles etc. and all will be reasonably priced. All proceeds will go to AMC.
As the only relay team to stay all night last year, we are encouraging other teams to join us this year as we demonstrate that Cancer Never Sleeps.
This year's Relay for Life for Warren County will be held from 6 p. m. to 6 a. m., April 29-30. The event will take place at the Warrenton City Park with campsites set up along the walk area.Ý See you there!Plans are also under way for a Charity Bike Ride on May 14 which will start off our fundraisers for 2006 team. Bikers will gather at10:30 a.m. at the old high school in Warrenton. Bikers will ride the county. Plans are to assemble at Miss Jane's for a dutch treat lunch around noon. The ride will then continue until 2 p.m. There will be a $15 registration fee per bike. At 9:30 a.m. we will have an obstacle type course set up for those wishing to ride their bicycle. Registration fee for this event will be $5 per bike.
I wish I could say we will be awarding a new bicycle to the best rider, but unless someone sees in his or her heart to donate the bike, there will not be one. What about you, can you donate a bicycle? It would be tax deductible.
