The Thomson High School Bulldogs remain undefeated in baseball, posting their ninth victory of the season against the visiting Lakeside High Panthers of Evans on Monday night at the Thomson field.
Stephen Krepps, the Bulldogs' ace pitcher, won the game - his fourth of the season. The final score was 7-1 - Thomson scoring two runs in the first inning. The Bulldogs got over some early miscues and received some good at-bats from several players to enable them to defeat the Panthers for the second time this season.
Last week, the Bulldogs played four games. The most thrilling victory thus far of the season came against the Richmond Academy Musketeers last Tuesday night at the Thomson field, as the Bulldogs had to play an extra inning in order to pull out the 3-2 win.
Cody Ewest delivered the winning hit - a RBI single in the bottom of the eighth inning that allowed senior catcher Westin Meehan to score the winning run.
Thomson also won two other games last week - a 16-1 win over Glascock County's Panthers and another win over the Hephzibah Rebels.
Senior lefty pitcher Clint Rushing won his second game of the season over the Panthers, while senior pitcher Austin Phillips notched the win against the Rebels.
Thomson played Butler on Tuesday night, Burke County on Wednesday and will travel to Augusta on Friday to play the Glenn Hills Spartans.
Next Tuesday, one of their biggest games of the season will be played - the game everyone has been waiting on all season - as Thomson plays host to the Harlem Bulldogs at 6 p.m.
