AUGUSTA, Ga. - Mr. Edgar Dill Fanning, 90, beloved husband of Mrs. Sarah Dawson Fanning, entered into rest Friday, March 17, 2006 at University Hospital.
Graveside services were held at 11 a.m. Monday, March 20, 2006, at Westover Memorial Park with Rev. Andy Collins officiating.
A native of Thomson, Edgar was the son of the late Welcome Fanning and the late Mary Lou Dill Fanning. Mr. Fanning served in the United States Army during World War II, where he received the Medal for Good Conduct and nine Bronze Stars. He later worked for the Veterans Administration Hospital in Augusta as a nurse's aide until he retired. After retirement, he then went to work for Budget Car Rental part time. Mr. Fanning was of the Baptist faith.
Additional survivors include his son, William Fanning Sr. and his wife, Laura of Augusta; two sisters, Mary Fanning and Sarah Hunt, both of Thomson; two grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.
