The fifth annual Railroad Days Festival will be held in Camak on April 2, beginning at 9 a.m. The event is held around the Town Hall Square.
Many events for all ages have been planned. There will be amusement rides for the kids. A large model railroad display will be provided by the Georgia-Carolina Model Railroad Association in the firehouse. This has been a wonderful event in the past. It provides a good layout of train routes. There will also be a display of railroad memorabilia.
A large display of vintage and antique cars, as well as antique tractors will also be on hand. A few local car clubs will be there, but anyone who would like to participate is urged to join in.
The local Martin Marietta Co. will be providing free tours of the quarry. This company has been a very important part of the area since 1930. The company will provide a shuttle from the festival area.
Of course, important to all festivals will be the food and fellowship along with music entertainment all day. There will be a raffle drawing held for many prizes at 3 p.m.
Any local crafters are invited to join in to make the event successful. To request an application call 706-465-2449 or download an application from www.camaksrailroadday.com.
