The Pine Needle Garden Club met Tuesday, March 8, for its monthly meeting in the home of Julie Hicks. Paige Cochran served as co-hostess. There were 19 members in attendance.
Claire Harbeson, president, called the business meeting to order and officially welcomed new members, Frances Darden, Charlotte Derry, Lucy Bell and Caron Cushman.
Yard of the month was awarded to Wyman Marshall on Mimosa Drive.
Arrangement winners for the day were: first -- none awarded; second -- Mrs. Wells and Cindy Wilson; and third -- Mrs. Cochran.
Specimen bloom winners were: first -- Billie Thomas; second -- Mrs. Harbeson; and third -- Sharon Wall.
Arrangement winner for the 2004-2005 year was Mrs. Wall and specimen bloom winner was Mrs. Wills.
Mrs. Harbeson installed the new officers for the 2005-2006 year. They are: President -- Mrs. Wilson; Vice President -- Kathy Locklear; Secretary -- Mrs. Wells; and Treasurer -- Mrs. Cochran.
Mrs. Harbeson was presented with a gift by Mrs. Wilson on behalf of the club in appreciation of her leadership and a scrapbook of the year's events by Mrs. Wall.
The remainder of the meeting focused on plans for the coming year, many in celebration of the Pine Needle Garden Club's 50th anniversary.
The meeting was adjourned with the Garden Club Prayer.
