Raffle Winner
On Friday, March 11, Mattie Cheatham, administrative assistant of the Thomson-McDuffie Recreation Department, drew the winning baseball/softball raffle ticket for the $150 gift certificate from Wal-Mart. Alberta Dorsey of Dearing was the winner.
Library restroom repair
The Thomson-McDuffie County Library is in need of restroom renovations, according to a letter sent to the Thomson City Council and the McDuffie County Board of Commissioners.
Both groups recently agreed to contribute $1,100 -- one quarter of the total cost -- to assist in the repairs. The restrooms have been repeatedly vandalized even though library patrons are required to sign out a key to use them.
Plans include removal of wallpaper and fixtures, and the installation of tiles and other material that can be more easily cleaned.
