Mrs. Lula Johnson Whitaker

THOMSON, Ga. -- Mrs. Lula Johnson Whitaker, 77, widow of Mr. Pete Whitaker, died Sunday, March 20, 2005 at University Hospital in Augusta.

Funeral services were held 2 p.m. Tuesday, March 22, 2005 in the Salem United Methodist Church with Rev. Bob Eick officiating; burial followed in the church cemetery.

Pallbearers were David Johnson, Randy Johnson, Jason Scurry, Kenny May, Ted May and J.D. Hardaway.

Mrs. Whitaker was born in Jefferson County, a daughter of the late Edwin and Lottie Pate Johnson. She had lived in Thomson most of her life, and retired after many years of service as a waitress at Sophie's Restaurant and was a member of Salem United Methodist Church.

Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Roger and Fern Whitaker; one granddaughter, Taylor Whitaker, all of Thomson; several nieces and nephews.

If so desired, memorial contributions may be made to the Salem United Methodist Church.
