Robert Sapp Baseball Camp planned for Sweetwater park

The 28th Annual Robert Sapp Baseball Camp is accepting applications for its summer session to be held at Sweetwater Park in Thomson, June 2-6. Camp is from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. and is for ages 7-14. Six-year-olds may attend if they are skilled enough to play with the seven-year-old groups. The fee is $125 with team rates available. (A $10 discount for five or more players from one spring/summer league team or travel team is available.)

Former Middle Georgia College and University of Georgia head baseball Coach Robert Sapp will be the Camp Director. Coach Sapp has directed numerous camps for the past 27 years throughout the state of Georgia. More than 100 of Coach Sapp's former players have signed professional contracts and 19 have played in the major leagues. Coach Sapp's college coaching record was 915-210. High school coaches from the state and former and present college and pro players will also make up the staff.

The camp will feature fundamentals, game competition, videos, motivational and instructional lectures and demonstrations. The camp will benefit all campers, whatever their sill level, as each camper will have the opportunity to work on all phases of his game.

Information and brochures on the camp can be obtained by calling the Thomson Recreation Department 706-595-2152 in Thomson; or Robert Sapp in Gainesville 770-287-3309 or email: resbbcamp@charter.net. Brochures also can be picked up at the Sweetwater Park concession stands in Thomson and the Thomson-McDuffie Recreation Department. More information can be found on the camp website: www.robertsappbaseballcamp.com
