Mr. Warren L. Stephens, Sr.
Fluor-Daniels

BEECH ISLAND, S.C. - Mr. Warren L. Stephens, Sr., 81, of Beech Island, S.C., beloved husband of the late Betty Moxley Stephens and son of the late James Walter and Grace French, entered into rest Sunday afternoon, March 18, 2007, at University Hospital in Augusta.

Born in Augusta, he had been a resident of Aiken County since 1955. He retired from Fluor-Daniels Construction with more than 30 years of service as a project manager. This position took him to various parts of the world as far away as Kuwait. A World War II veteran, he proudly served his country in the United States Navy aboard the destroyer escort the USS Otter. Mr. Stephens was a 32nd degree Mason and a Shriner. He was of the Methodist faith and enjoyed fishing, never in "calm water" only in "moving water."

He is survived by a son, Warren L. Stephens, Jr., (Heather Brant) Beech Island, S.C., and nephews, James Stephens, Thomson, and Leslie and Randy Boatwright, both of Augusta.

At his request, Mr. Stephens was cremated and a memorial service was held Thursday evening, March 22, 2007, at 7 p.m. at Hatcher Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Langley, SC, with Pastor Mike Catoe officiating.

The family has asked that memorials in memory of Mr. Stephens be made to the Aiken SPCA, 401 Wire Road, Aiken, SC, 29801.
