WARRENTON, Ga. - Mr. James Carl Adkins, 82, beloved husband for 55 years of Mrs. Rubye Thornton Adkins of Ansley Road died Saturday March 25, 2006 at the McDuffie Regional Medical Center.
Graveside services were held at 11 a.m., Monday, March 27, 2006 at the Jewell Baptist Church Cemetery with Rev. Ralph Story officiating.
Mr. Adkins, a native of Oglethorpe County, was the son of the late Harvey J. and Pearl Martin Adkins. He was a retired farmer, carpenter and owner of Cash Grocery in Powelton. He was a Baptist.
Survivors include his wife, Rubye Thornton Adkins, one daughter, Lydia A. (Perry) Grant, Crawfordville, two sons, James Wallace (Mary) Adkins and Charles Adkins, both of Warrenton, one brother, Derwin (Joyce) Adkins, Young Harris, Ga., two sisters, Varnelle A. Marsh, Warner Robins, Nell A.(Vernon) Dunn, Richmond, VA. three grandchildren, Brent Adkins, Daphne (Eric) McMunn, and Lindsey (Tim) Duvall, three great-grandchildren, Amber McMunn, Dalton McMunn, and Austin Duvall.
Pallbearers were John Wood, Jeff Adkins, Jack Hesson, Gene Adkins, Kevin Mitchell, and Vernon Newsome.
Lowe Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
