To turn a golf phrase, McDuffie County's tee time is coming, and we've all got to be warmed up.
The world arrives at our area's doorstep next week, and we've got to be ready. And for communities like ours, it's about a lot more than golf.
The Masters Tournament brings in executives and celebrities from across the nation -- last week's Mirror listed actor Bill Murray, Masters champ Mike Weir, golfer Nancy Lopez, Miami Dolphins owner Wayne Huizenga, as well as representatives from Paramount Pictures among the folks that used McDuffie's airport. McDuffie County serves as their gateway, and that is something we should take advantage of.
Think of that next week as you deal with unfamiliar faces: the impression they get from you is the impression they'll take from McDuffie County. This is your home, your hometown -- take pride in it.
And for those people who see McDuffie County as nothing more than a stopover or an interstate exit on the way to Augusta for the tournament, we encourage you to take a little more time in our community. There are many reasons we choose to live here, including some of the great food at local restaurants.
So visitors stop by, sit a spell and talk with some local folks. Just like we know you'll like what you see in The Mirror, we're sure you'll like what you see in McDuffie County.
