Diamond Dogs still in control of sub-region

Last week, the Thomson Middle School Diamond Dogs were defeated by the Washington-Wilkes Tigers 4-3 in Washington.

Justin McCorkle pitched four innings for the Bulldogs, giving up three runs on four hits while recording three walks and four strikeouts. Austin Phillips pitched two additional innings, giving up one run on no hits and two walks while striking out two batters.

On Saturday, March 27, the Thomson Middle School Diamond Dogs defeated the Colts of Wrens Middle School by a score of 8-4 to maintain Thomson's first-place standing in the Super-12 Region.

Coach Chalker noted, "Danny Johnson's aggressiveness on the base pads gave us life. He made two outstanding base running plays to score the tying run in the fourth. Patrick Cooper then shot one back up the middle with two strikes to give us some breathing room."

The Dogs are now 8-4 overall, with an undefeated record of 5-0 in region play. The final home game, to be played at Sweetwater Park, is against Louisville Middle School on April 13, after spring break.
