Mrs. Ida Ray Spear
Retired Uniroyal Supervisor

DEARING, Ga. - Mrs. Ida Ray Spear, 90, widow of Mr. Alex S. Spear, died Saturday April 1, 2006 at her residence.

Funeral services were held 2 pm Monday in the Curtis Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. M. L. Barber officiating. Burial followed in the Fort Creek Baptist Church Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Ike Amerson, Alton Ray, Bobby Ray, Jimmy Ray, Frank Crawley, Callaway Workman, and Tim Ray.

A native of Warren County, Mrs. Spear was a daughter of the late James Robert and Dell Gheesling Ray. She retired after many years of service as a line supervisor with Uniroyal in Thomson. She was a life long member of Williams Creek Baptist Church.

Mrs. Spear was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Mr. Alex S. Spear, a step-daughter Barbara Jefferson, and is survived by stepson, Jay Spear and his wife, Patsy of Dearing; two stepdaughters, Linda Snellings and her husband, James of Dearing and Sylvia Sims of Blythe; two sisters-in-law, Laura Ray Norris of Martinez, and Anna Ray of Washington; devoted care-givers, Mildred Clifton, Linda Taylor, Francis Woodard, and Stephanie Taylor; 12 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, and one great-great granddaughter, and several nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are requested to the Alzheimer's Association at 1899 Central Avenue Augusta, GA 30904.

Curtis Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
