MARTINEZ, Ga. -- Mr. James Kenneth "Ken" Nichols, 51, beloved husband of Mrs. Rebecca Newman Nichols, entered into rest Thursday, March 24, 2005 at the Veterans Administration Medical Center, Augusta.
A memorial service was held 6:30 p.m. Monday evening, March 28th, 2005, at Westside Christian Church with Rev. Jim Joiner officiating.
Mr. Nichols was a native and a lifelong resident of the Augusta area. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army having served during the Vietnam era. While in the military Mr. Nichols served as a ranger of the 75th Infantry, a member of the 82nd Airborne Division of the 1st of 325, the American Legion Post 192, Evans, the Vorture 40/8 unit 719, and a member of the Westside Christian Church.
Other survivors include two sons, Jason Kenneth Nichols, Thomson, Raymond Zachry Nichols, Columbus; one step son, David Lee (Stacy) Zorn Jr., Augusta; one step daughter, Valerie Patricia (Jeff) Miles, Clearwater, FL; mother, Frances Fulton, Augusta; one brother, Timothy Wayne (Melba) Nichols, Hephzibah; one sister, Jane (Robert) Sloan, St. Augustine, FL; three grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Mr. Nichols was preceded in death by his father, James Harmon "Nick" Nichols.
