Banquet to celebrate Thomson basketball team's stellar season

The Thomson High School boys' basketball team is trying to raise some money that will help them hold a camp. They are hoping the public will support that effort by attending a banquet with a special guest speaker.

"It's also being sponsored by the parents, and they're just trying to show their appreciation to the team for the little bit of success they had this year," said Thomson Boys' Basketball Coach Michael Thomas.

Gerald White, vice president of player development at Pro One Sports, will speak at the banquet on April 13 at 7 p.m. in the THS cafeteria. Tickets are $10 and are on sale at the THS office and the Boys & Girls Club.

Mr. White was a point guard for Auburn University from 1983-87 and is a former assistant coach at Augusta State University, the University of Tennessee-Chattanooga, Georgia State and Virginia Commonwealth.

According to the Pro One Sports website, he oversees player development for clients in preparation for the NBA Draft as well as the upcoming season in addition to assisting in recruitment.
