Hickory Hill, the historic home of Senator Thomas E. Watson, is pleased to announce a summer archaeology day camp for kids, ages 11-17.
In Dig History!, kids will learn how archaeologists investigate the past, what tools they use, what questions they ask, and how they make sense of the things they find. Activities will include survey, preservation, and excavation. Then, the kids will work alongside professional archaeologists to excavate the Jeffersonian Publishing Company site at Hickory Hill.
Three weeks of excavation will take place this summer. Kids may participate in one week or in all three weeks.
Camps run from 9 a.m.-3 p.m., Monday-Friday. Camp dates are: June 13-17, June 27-July 1 and July 11-15. The cost is $75 per child per week. Several scholarships are available. Only 15 spots per week are available. All activities will take place at Hickory Hill.
