Raising the crosses

The Old Frontier Christian Camp held a cross-raising ceremony on Good Friday to commemorate Christ's crucifixion. Three crosses - two 24 feet high, and one 30 feet high - were planted in the ground. The story of the crucifixion was read from the book of Matthew, followed by a brief time of sharing, reflection and prayer. To close the ceremony, those in attendance had the opportunity to write down personal burdens and burn them at the foot of the cross. Chris Smith, the chairman of the board of directors, said in the near future a hill of dirt will be added to the base of the crosses, with 3-dimensional scenes of the life of Jesus encircling the hill.
