Yarbrough weds Brooks in Mitchell ceremony

Sarah Joann Yarbrough and Christopher George Brooks were united in marriage on Saturday, Jan. 15 at 3 p.m. The wedding was held at Mineral Springs Baptist Church near Mitchell. Rev. Bill Seaman officiated. The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Tommy Yarbrough of Mitchell. The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Wade Brooks of Avera.


Beth Dawson of Gibson was maid of honor. Bridesmaids were Megan Williams of Gibson, Kacey Williford of Augusta, Stacey Usry of Statesboro, and Morgan Pittman, cousin of the bride, from Avera. Flower girls were Macy Hadden and Halle Hadden of Gibson, cousins of the bride, and Samantha Weeks of Avera, niece of the groom.

Wade Brooks was his son's best man. Groomsmen were Philip Wheeler, Phillip Raley, Chris Stowe and Clint Beasley of Gibson. Huey McNair served as usher. Ring bearers were John Thomas Black and Nate Black from Hawkinsville, cousins of the bride.

Mrs. Keri McNair was the wedding director.

The bride wore a white, satin halter A-line dress embellished with beaded crystals on the bodice, skirt and train. She wore a fingertip veil with teardrop crystals around the edges. She carried a bouquet of red roses, miniature calla lilies and baby's breath.

The attendants wore Apple Red satin dresses featuring a cuffed bodice and back pleat embellished with sparkling beads. They carried bouquets of red and white roses. The flower girls wore long white dresses accented with a red sash.

Pianist Glenda Howard from Stapleton, played a medley of love and praise songs. Soloist was Patrick Parker from Wrens. He sang two songs selected by the couple, "I Will Stand" and "Long As I Live."

Those assisting at the reception were Jamie Bold of Athens, Torianna Fowler of Macon, and Morgan Lamb of Statesboro and Nickie Kelley of Gibson.

After a honeymoon in the Tennessee mountains the couple is making their home in Gibson.

Parties given for the couple:

Nov. 21 -- The ladies from the bride's church, Mineral Springs Baptist Church, gave a miscellaneous shower at the church fellowship building with about 60 people in attendance. The decorations, refreshments and many gifts were lovely.

Nov. 27 -- Several friends from the groom's church, Pleasant Grove Baptist Church, gave a shower for the couple at the church fellowship hall. There were about 40 guests present and the couple received many beautiful and useful gifts.

Dec. 4 -- Kacey Williford of Augusta and Patricia Barrow of Stapleton, gave a lingerie shower for the bride at the home of Mrs. Barrow in Stapleton. Several friends were present and they showered the bride with many items.

Dec. 7 -- A Christmas shower was given by Carolyn Fordham, Maye Rogers and Faye Roberson at the historic home of Mrs. Fordham near Hamburg State Park. The hostesses presented the bride and groom with storage containers for all the beautiful decorations the couple received. Everyone enjoyed the refreshments, fellowship and the tour of Mrs. Fordham's home. The house had just been a part of the Historic Tour of Homes for the Warthen, Ga., area.
