Thomson's Lady Bulldogs to host Worth County in Friday soccer showdown game at 'Brickyard'

As Friday rapidly approaches, so do the hopes and dreams of seniors Casey Brooks and Chelsea Jones.

The game against Worth County could mean one of two things for the star soccer players at Thomson High School: their first-ever win in a state playoff setting or the end of the school's most successful season ever in the sport.

The latter is not a consideration, the talented duo are quick to say.

"We want to win this game real bad, so we can go on to the next round of the state playoffs," said Jones, who plans after graduation to attend Augusta State University and study chemistry in hopes of becoming a pathologist someday.

Brooks feels the same way.

"I'm really excited about the big game," said Brooks, who plans to attend the University of Georgia to study biology. She aspires to become an orthopedic surgeon in the future. "I want us to go out and play the best we can against Worth County. I think we have a pretty good chance of winning against them."

Jones agrees.

"From what we've heard about them, I think we have a real good chance of beating them," said Jones. "We just have to go out there and play the way we've been playing all season and who knows, maybe we'll win again."

The game between Thomson and Worth County will be played in The Brickyard in Thomson at 5:30 p.m.
