SILVER SPRING, Md. - Mrs. Lula Mary Dixon Douglas entered into rest April 11, 2007 in Silver Spring, Md., at Manor Care Heath.
Lula was born to the late Rev. John B. Dixon and Lula Ruff Dixon on September 30, 1920, in Hancock County. She received her early schooling from the Springfield A&I school. She attended Savannah State College then moved to Washington, D.C., where she joined Peoples Congregational Church. She was a deaconess and a member of the Camellia Circle. She retired from the Pentagon after 32 years with the Department of the Army.
Survivors include two sisters, Mrs. Ruth Roberts of Thomson, Mrs. Dorothy Cobb of Washington, DC, one sister-in-law Jessie Dixon of Maryland and a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
Funeral services were held Saturday, April 21, 2007, at 1:30 p.m. at Springfield Baptist Church in Sparta, with Pastor Felton Poole officiating.
Pinkston-Roberts Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
