THS junior wins essay competition

Thomson High School Junior Ryan Cook was recently honored for winning the Voice of Democracy essay contest.

Pictured above are Butch Graziano, VFW Post 7778 and District 10 Commander, Ryan and Milton Keene, Senior Vice Commander.

Mr. Graziano is handing Ryan a check for $100 for winning the Voice of Democracy Essay Contest for the district, and Mr. Keene is handing him a $100 check for winning the contest for post 7778. The topic of this year's essay was "How do you demonstrate your freedom?" Mr. Keene said 14 students from THS and 21 from Briarwood Academy turned in essays. For the district, Mr. Keene said Ryan won over students from all over the Augusta area.
