Broome wins ABA event

A Lincolnton man caught 11.23 lbs. of bass to win the April 29 American Bass Anglers tournament at Mistletoe State Park.

First place winner Kenneth Broome also took Big Fish honors with a 5.23 pounder.

Second place winner was Jimmy Jennings of Martinez with five fish weighing 10.23 lbs.

There were 12 anglers who caught 29 fish with a total weight of 53.7 lbs., with all but one being released alive.

The next ABA tournament will be held May 20 on Clarks Hill Lake at Amity Ramp. This will be the last one-day tournament for 2006. Anglers must have competed in four of the one-day events to qualify for the two-day District Championship.

American Bass Anglers is open to anyone age 16 and over who is not a professional fisherman or guide. Those under 18 must have written parental consent.
