Culpepper Lumber announces Evans expansion

A McDuffie County building supply company has started construction on an Evans branch.

Work on the new Culpepper Lumber Company, Inc., branch began Monday, according to company president Lem Brooks.

The 35,700 square foot building, which is being built at 4532 Washington Road in Evans, will locate a hardware store in one of the fastest growing areas in Georgia, according to a news release.

Completion of the building is slated for September and Thomson resident Pete Bales has been selected to be the on-site manager for the Evans location.

Culpepper's Thomson location on Augusta Highway has been in operation since 1953 and affiliated with Ace Hardware Corporation since 1969.

"Our focus is different than most regional chains and 'big box warehouse concept' stores," a company spokesman said.

The press release. "We have established good business relationships with our customers for many years. Over the years we have built a reputation of honesty and integrity in our dealings."
