THOMSON, Ga. -- Mrs. Eleanor McMannon Garvey, 95, widow of Mr. C. Ross Garvey, died Sunday, April 24, 2005 in the Warrenton Health & Rehab.
Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. Friday, April 29, in the Holy Cross Episcopal Church with Dr. Talmadge E. Bowden and Rev. Dr. Charlne Andress officiating. Burial was in Savannah Valley Memorial Gardens.
Mrs. Garvey was a native of McDuffie County. She was the retired Chairman of the Board of Bigelow-Garvey Lumber Company in Chicago. She was a member of the Holy Cross Episcopal Church. She was a member of the D.A.R. She was an avid Bridge Player, having earned the lifetime Grand Master Points. She had been an active member of the Miami Garden Club and Winchester Country Club in Waynesville, NC.
Survivors include two granddaughters, Nora McMannon, Thomson and Lee Chapman, Macon; a grandson, Ross Loflin, Thomson; one great-granddaughter, Kayla Eleanor Loflin; a great-niece, Mary Pat Logdson, Virginia Beach and three great-nephews, Ralph Garvey and David Garvey, both of LaMont, Ill. and Richard Garvey, Fremont, Calif.
Pallbearers were Boone Knox, Don McNeill, Wyck Knox, Phil Farr, Jim Spence and Winde Bradshaw.
