McFadyen weds Land in October ceremony in Thomson

Mary Kathryn McFadyen and Jared Brian Land were united in marriage on Saturday, October 14, 2006, at 5:30 p.m. at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Usry. The Rev. Dr. James Ramsey officiated.

Mary Kate is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. James Laurence McFadyen of Thomson. She is the granddaughter of Mrs. Robert Scannell of Mount Pleasant, S.C., and Mr. Norwood Kenneth McIntosh of Summerton, S.C., and Mrs. Duncan Brown McFadyen and the late Mr. Duncan Brown McFadyen of Raeford, N.C. Mary Kate is a graduate of Thomson High School, is in the United States Coast Guard Reserves, and is enrolled in the License Practical Nursing Program at Augusta Technical College.

Jared Brian Land is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Bobby Land of Thomson. He is the grandson of Mrs. Emerson Smith and the late Mr. Emerson Smith of Henderson, Ga., and the late Mr. and Mrs. William Albert Land of Warrenton. Jared is a graduate of Thomson High School and Augusta Technical College. He is employed by the Thomson Police Department.

Given in marriage by her father, Mary Kate chose her sister, Martha McFadyen Scott of Louisville, Ga., to serve as her matron of honor.

Bridesmaids were Margaret Carol Murray, Jamie Bales Brooks and Connie New Mathis, all friends of the bride. Junior bridesmaid was Summer Meredith Land, daughter of the groom.

Jared chose his father, Bobby Land, Sr., as his best man. Groomsmen were Bruce Albert Strother, James Morrison Henning, Joshua Wayne Caston, and James Daniel Shelton.

Musicians were Jim McGaw and Grant Usry.

Following the ceremony the reception was held at the Usry's.

The couple honeymooned in St. John and resides in Thomson.
