THOMSON, Ga. -- Mr. Lawrence Gene Allen, 66, of Thomson, entered into rest April 30, 2005 at University Hospital.
Survivors include sons, Jeffrey Allen, Augusta and Rex Allen (Phyllis), Thomson; sisters, Loretta Allen Stutz, Charlotte, NC and Sue Allen Walker (William), North Augusta, SC; grandchildren, Dustin JL Rex Allen, Edward Dillon Floyd and Judson Allen and a lifelong friend, Betty Allen, Thomson.
Mr. Allen was born in Morganton, Ga., and was the son of the late Lawrence James Allen and the late Reba Johnson Allen Phillips. He was retired as a Supervisor with American Cotton Growers Littlefield, Texas, after 20 years of service, returned to Thomson in 2001. Mr. Allen was also a member of Second Baptist Church.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m., Tuesday, May 3, 2005, at Second Baptist Church with Dr. Ron Drawdy officiating. Interment followed in Savannah Valley Memorial Gardens.
Pallbearers were Marcel Seid, Mark Walker, Todd Walker, Tony Carr, Jr., Paul Brown and William Walker. Honorary pallbearers were Fred Dunaway, Earl Tankersley, Wilbur Gheeslin, Allen Stutz and Gary Stutz.
Beggs Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
