GROVETOWN, Ga. -- Entered into rest Saturday, April 30, 2005, at Doctor's Hospital, Mr. Lamar B. Crawford, 79, husband of Mrs. Bette M. Crawford, son of the late Baze and Robbie Brown Crawford.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, May 3, 2005 at 11 a.m. at the Powell Baptist Church with the Rev. Randall Whitaker officiating. Interment was in the Bellevue Memorial Gardens, Grovetown, with Masonic rites.
Mr. Crawford was a native of Columbia County and a graduate of Harlem High School. He was a World War II Air Force Veteran, retired from civil service at Fort Gordon and a member of the Harlem Masonic Lodge No. 276. Mr. Crawford was a member of the Powell Baptist Church where he was a former deacon and Sunday School director. Mr. Crawford was a devoted husband of 43 years, a father, brother and grandfather. He was 'Papa' to many people and loved them all dearly.
Survivors include his beloved wife, Bettie Moon Crawford; two daughters, Gayle Francis and Vickie Crawford, both of Thomson; two brothers, Eugene (Bea) Crawford, Riverview, Fla., Joe (Helen) Crawford, Harlem; four sister, Jennie Curtis, Tampa, Fla., Sara (Art) Alves, Tampa, Fla., Moralle Cole, Grovetown, Renie (Richard) Crawford, Grovetown; two grandchildren, Esther (Ronnie) Wells and Shane (Nikki) Taylor; four great-grandchildren, Amber Wells, Caitlin Wells, Braxton Taylor and Gage Taylor. Pallbearers were Joe Easler, Mickey Moore, Gary Moore, Joe Richard Reid, Harold Cooper and Howard Hardaway.
Honorary Pallbearers were Powell Baptist Church Men's Sunday School Class and the members of the Harlem Masonic Lodge No. 276.
