WARRENTON, Ga. -- Mrs. Pauline "Polly" Smith Van Dyke, age 79, of Warrenton, died Friday, April 29, 2005, at the McDuffie Regional Medical Center.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Sunday, May 1, 2005 at Long Creek Baptist Church, with Revs. Chip Cranford and Chad Crews officiating. Burial followed in the church cemetery.
Mrs. Van Dyke, a native of Glascock County, had been a resident of Warren County for many years. She was clerk of the Warren County Tax Assessor's office, retiring in 1987 after working more than 39 years in various offices in the Warren County Courthouse. She was a member of Long Creek Baptist Church and the Adult Ladies Sunday School Class.
Survivors include one son, Daniel Van Dyke, Augusta; a daughter and son-in-law, Susan and Charles Cranford, Thomson; one sister Ophelia Smith McLeroy, Athens; one brother Gilbert Smith, Warrenton; two grandchildren, Carla McMahan and Chip Cranford; three great-grandchildren, Annie Cranford, Lily Cranford, and Polly McMahan; and a number of nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers were Henry McLeroy, Dwight Smith, Lindsey Smith, Philip Smith, Arch Smith, and Douglas Ellis.
