CLAYTON, Ala. - Mr. Mancil Edison Shirah, 92, of Clayton, Ala., entered into rest Sunday, May 7, 2006 at McDuffie Regional Medical Center in Thomson. Graveside services were held at Pine Level Baptist Church on Wednesday, May 10, with Rev. Robert McCoy and Dr. Tharel Shirah officiating.
Born April 10, 1914 in Barbour County, Ala., he was the son of the late Rev. Fletcher M. and Clara Helms Shirah. He was preceded in death by his wife of 62 years, Maudie Spivey Shirah, and an infant son and daughter. He was a member of Pine Level Baptist Church.
Survivors include his daughter and son-in-law, Becky and Bob Smith, Thomson; a sister, Vela Mae Hagler, Hartford, Ala.; a grandson, Brad (Laura) Smith, Thomson; three granddaughters, Leigh (Tripp) Glawson, Macon, Ga., Lisa Smith, Thomson, and Lynne (Ryan) Jones, Buford, Ga; and six great-grandchildren, Brian and Chase Smith, Rebecca and Shirah Johnson and Will and Callie Glawson.
Active pallbearers were his grandson and nephews, Brad Smith, Bobby Shirah, Johnny Helms, Browder Parmer, Delmus Parmer and Randy Helms.

Curtis Funeral Home and Kent Funeral Home, Clayton, Ala, were in charge of arrangements.
