Wal-Mart makes donations
Thomson's Wal-Mart recently presented several $1,000 matching grant checks to local organizations. Assistant Manager Cindy Melson gave the Wal-Mart Foundation grants to the Thomson Middle School Band Boosters, Camellia City Lions Club, Briarwood Academy and Habitat for Humanity.

Briarwood's Robert Waller said the money would be used to help build a batting cage and purchase baseball pants for the girls' softball team.

Johnny Crawley accepts a check on behalf of the band boosters.
|
|
Lions Club member Edith Bartley said the money would benefit the camp for the blind.
|
|
Habitat for Humanity's Billy Shurling accepts the check to support local housing efforts.
