Mrs. Jewel Aycox Ansley
Ret. Army-Air Force Exchange service

THOMSON, Ga. -- Mrs. Jewel Aycox Ansley, age 79, widow of Mr. John Henry Ansley, died Friday, May 13, 2005 in the Doctors Hospital.

Graveside services were held 11 a.m. Monday, May 16, 2005 in the Savannah Valley Memorial Gardens with Rev. Jim Bailey officiating.

Mrs. Ansley was born August 2, 1925 in Avera, a daughter of the late Homer V. and Kathaleen Peebles Aycox. She lived most of her life in the surrounding area and was a devoted mother and friend. She retired from the Army-Air Force Exchange service after 13 years of service. Having only attended school until the ninth grade, she completed her GED in 1996. She loved her church, White Oak Methodist, Marshall Baptist and Harlem Methodist. When her family was younger, she was very active in the youth groups with them. She was a member of the Thomson Camellia City Lions Club and the V.F.W. Lady's Auxiliary.

Mrs. Ansley was preceded in death by her husband, John Henry Ansley, and a son Bobby Gene Ansley, and is survived by a daughter, Carol Ann and Joe Brooks of Walker, Mo.; son, Johnny and Judy Ansley of Thomson; sister, Louise Hardy of Thomson; brother, John Aycox of Martinez; seven grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, several nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

Donations may be made to Thomson Camellia City Lions Club.
