A total of nine high school students and one middle school student attended the state competition, and all students finalized in every event.
"The students are the best I have," said Greg Shouse, technology teacher. They competed internally within the school to land a spot on the team which attended the state event, he explained.
"They are an awesome bunch of kids to work with," he said.
The students competed in 12 areas, and gathered a number of honors including first place for the CO2 Dragster -- middle school sixth grader Sara Beth Shouse; third place in Architectural Model, Chris Watkins and Ayla Harville; third place in Cyberspace Pursuit -- Chris Watkins, Chris McCorkle, Erica Green; third place in Imaging Technology -- Erica Green and 10th place for Outstanding Chapter.
Students went up against some of the biggest schools in the state which offered much larger programs, but the Thomson competitors were tough and outstanding, Mr. Shouse said.

Students said they were not nervous about the competition, and are eager for the national event scheduled June 28-July 2 in Chicago.
"We're ready," said Chris Watkins, one of the team's veteran competitors.
