THOMSON, Ga. - Mrs. Lona Brooks Land, 85, widow of Mr. Roney Land, died Friday, May 16, 2008, in the Thomson Manor Nursing Facility.
Graveside services were held at 4 p.m. Monday, May 19, in the Sweetwater Baptist Church Cemetery with Rev. Kenneth Garvin officiating.
Mrs. Land was a native of Jefferson County, but had lived in Thomson for many years. She was a retired dietician from the McDuffie County Hospital. She was a member of the Sweetwater Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Mr. Roney Land, her son, Larry Land, and a brother, Enoch Brooks.
She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Jane and Jimmy Waller, Thomson; two sisters, Doris Rooks and Nina Rayfield, both of Thomson; her brother, Johnny Brooks, Thomson; her three grandchildren, Johna Rogers, Evans, Clint Waller and Andy Waller, both of Thomson; and five great-grandchildren.
Honorary pallbearers were Clint Waller, Andy Waller, Bill Rogers, Danny Rooks, Ray Rooks, John Stribel, Johnny Smith, Stanley Dallas, and Justin Waller.
Curtis Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
