God's strength can guide through tragedy

Dear Editor,

In reference to the two women recently killed in a shooting in Thomson:

As the pastor of Minister of Faith Christian Center, I would like to thank the community and surrounding counties for their incredible support during the unfortunate incident that occurred on April 30. In Jeremiah 3:16, it says: Is there anything too hard for God? No, absolutely not, with prayer and faith all things are possible. Did anything good come out of this? Yes, tragedy such as this brought families, communities and counties together. Let us not forget to continue to pray for both families. Both families are still grieving over the loss of their loved ones and we need to bring them the presence of the Lord, asking for peace, healing and hope. These families have endured a lot.

It says in II Peter 1-2: Grace and peace be multiplied unto you through the knowledge of God, and of Jesus our Lord. In Mk. 4:39 Jesus disciples called on Him and He rebuked the wind and said unto the sea, Peace, be still. And the wind ceased, and there was calm. Jesus will do the same for them in the mist of their storm. So let us continue to pray for them.

In Luke 4:18 Jesus said, "The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he hath anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor; he hath sent me to heal the broken-hearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised, to preach the acceptable year of the Lord. After all, we are to be like Jesus. We are also sent to heal the broken-hearted. The fervent prayers of a righteous man availeth much. So let us continue to pray.

To both families, I would like to give you a word of encouragement. As you look back over your lives and think things over, God has brought you through good and difficult times. Just look at the difficult times and just say: I know if God has brought you through good and difficult times. Just look at the difficult times and just say: I know if God brought me through that, He will bring me through this. Happy is he that has God of Jacob for their help who made the heaven and earth. Have hope in the Lord your God. (Psalm 146:5). So continue to pray with us until your joy comes in the morning, and one morning you will wake up and hear a voice say, "GOOD MORNING"! Then you will say, "God has brought me through this too. To God be the glory!

Is there anything too hard for God? Absolutely not. With faith and prayer all things are possible. So let us not forget to continue to pray for both families for peace, healing and hope. To God be the glory!

With love and gratitude,

George Ivey, Pastor

Minister of Faith Christian Center
