THOMSON, Ga. -- Miss Melissa M. "Boot" Brooks, 39, beloved daughter of John and Margaret Brooks, died Sunday May 15, 2005 at her residence.
Funeral services were held at 3 p.m. Wednesday, May 18, 2005 at Washington Heights Baptist Church with Revs. D. L. Peevy, Reginald Blakewood, and Dr. Joe Wills officiating. Burial followed at the Westview Cemetery in Thomson.
Melissa was a native of McDuffie County and a graduate of Thomson High School class of 1983. She was the O. R. Secretary at McDuffie Regional Medical Center and a active member of Washington Heights Baptist Church, where she taught the younger children's Sunday School class, and was VBS Director.
Survivors include her parents Mr. and Mrs. John A. (Margaret) Brooks, Jr.; maternal grandmother Anna Mae Ashley, Norwood; her brother Jason M. (Kelli) Brooks; two sisters: Tracy B. (Mike) Madden, and Phyllis B. (Robert ) Rosier; nephews Jonathan Rosier, Matthew Rosier, London Brooks and niece Presley Madden all of Thomson; and close family friends Madison, Lisa, and Rebekah Bolton of Thomson. She was preceded in death by her maternal grandfather H. Grady Ashley and paternal grandparents John and Nellie Brooks.
Pallbearers were Dewayne Wood, John Wood, Clay Crunkleton, Lane Crunkleton, Charles Montgomery, Mark Brooks, Ricky Brooks and Scott Brooks. Honorary pallbearers were the staff of the McDuffie Regional Medical Center Operating Room.
