APPLING, Ga. - Mr. Richard Gary Harden, 67, of Appling, entered into rest after a battle with cancer at his residence on May 22, 2008.
Mr. Harden was a retired journeyman carpenter. He served eight years in the Navy and was a veteran of the Vietnam War. He was an avid dirt track racing fan and loved to travel. Mr. Harden was a loving husband and father and lived the last 15 years in Columbia County.
He was preceded in death by his mother and father, the late Benjamin G. Harden and Mildred Burnside and a sister, Landra Harden LaRussa, and Aunt Lillian Ollerich and Uncle Charles -Geeche- Harden.
He is survived by his wife, Sandra Harden of Appling; five children, Landra Harden and Benjamen Harden, both of Appling, William Harden of Grovetown, Ashley and wife, Jenna Harden, of Rockwall, Texas, Kristy and husband, Christopher Brown, of Clarks Hill, S.C. and his dog and faithful companion, Selena; one brother, Ernest Harden of Texas; one sister, Faye Quickel of Casper, Wyo.; his mother-in-law, Beverly Hinton of Thomson; several sisters and brothers-in-law and an abundance of nieces and nephews and friends.
Funeral services were held at King Funeral Home Chapel at 10 a.m. Saturday, May 24. Interment followed at Sharon Baptist Church Cemetery with the Rev. Andy Collins officiating.
Pallbearers were Benjamen Harden, Billy Harden, Steve Banks, Tommy Hinton, Joseph DeVita, Herbert Espiritu, Patrick Bargeron and Patrick Bargeron, Jr.
