The McDuffie County Board of Education hired two part-time Directors of Personnel for the 2008-09 school year.
At a called meeting Thursday, May 17, the board approved contracts for Connie Davis and Roger Williams.
Ms. Davis and Dr. Williams will replace Margie Waters, who resigned from her position as Assistant Superintendent for Personnel and Policy Management.
McDuffie County Superintendent of Schools Mark Petersen said the system is funded for only two assistant superintendents, and Dr. Water's resignation was a good time to readdress the third assistant's position. Currently, Dr. Barry O'Neill is the assistant superintendent for curriculum and instruction and Dr. Jim Franklin is the assistant superintendent for administrative services.
Ms. Davis is retired from Columbia County as the executive director of personnel. Dr. Williams was a part-time graduation coach at Crossroads Learning Center in McDuffie County. Dr. Petersen said the system is "working on and looking at funding for a new graduation coach."
Dr. Waters is on sick-leave and unavailable for comment. Board Media Spokesperson Georgia Hobbs said she was unable to comment due to a lack of response from her fellow board members before The Mirror's deadline.
