THOMSON, Ga. - Mrs. Evelyn Gilmer Evans, 80, died Sunday, May 20, 2007, at her residence.
Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, May 23, 2007, in Thomson First Baptist Church with Dr. Jim Ramsey officiating. Burial was at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday in the New Silver Brook Cemetery in Anderson, S.C.
Mrs. Evans was a native of Anderson, S.C., but had lived in Thomson for many years. She was a retired business woman, having last worked at Thomson Sporting Goods. She was a member of Thomson First Baptist Church, where she was a member of the Gleaners Sunday School Class.
Survivors include her daughter, Patricia (Bill) Reese, Thomson; her son, Richard (Pam) Gilmer, Evans; her two sisters, Frances Davenport, Sandersville, and Elizabeth Campbell, Anderson, S.C.; and her three grandchildren, Jenny Reese, Emily Reese and Al Reese, all of Thomson. The family wants to express their thanks to all her caregivers and especially Darryl Hatcher.
The Gleaners Sunday School Class were honorary pallbearers.
The family request that donations be made to Camp Hawkins, c/o Thomson First Baptist Church or to the Trinity Hospice.
