Thomson Co. proposals
Now that pre-engineering work is scheduled to begin on the restoration of the former Thomson Company property, several developers and businesses have approached the McDuffie County Industrial Development Authority with options on how they would use it.
The Landmark Group is just one of those with ideas to develop the property. The Winston-Salem, N.C. based company hopes to transform the old clothing manufacturing buildings into an apartment complex while maintaining its historic charm.
Other light industrial manufacturers have also approached the Development Authority with proposals on purchasing and using the property. Authority members were encouraged by the wide array of interest in the site. No decisions have been made on the future use of the property yet.
