Mrs. Karen Colohan Courter

LELAND, N.C. - Entered into rest Friday, May 20, 2005, Mrs. Karen Colohan Courter, 40, formally of Augusta, beloved wife of Christopher Courter and daughter of Virginia "Ginny" Colohan of Martinez and the late Paul Colohan, Sr. In addition to her husband, she is survived by two sons, Christopher Allen Cintron, Jr., in service with the US Army in Korea and Mitchell Lee Cintron, a daughter, Virginia Aerie Cintron, both of Leland, N.C.; five brothers, Paul Colohan, Jr., and wife Cindy of Grovetown; Mike Colohan and wife Sue of Laurel, Md.; Steve Colohan and wife Alicia of Augusta; Rick Colohan and wife Susan of Thomson; Kelly Colohan and wife Mary Ann of Bloomfield, Mich.; two sisters Cindy Bessman and husband James of Augusta; and Jean Colohan and husband John Cannon of Martinez; eight nephews, five nieces, one great-nephew, three great-nieces, numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.

She was born in Rockville, Md., but lived in the Augusta area for 24 years. She was a graduate of Evans High School and worked for Morris Communications while putting herself through Augusta College to earn her teaching degree. She taught fifth grade at Belville Elementary School in Leland, N.C. When she lived in the Augusta area, she was a member of St. Teresa of Avila Catholic Church, where she was one of the first female altar servers.

Funeral services were conducted at Andrews Mortuary, Market Street, Wilmington, N.C., on Monday, May 23, 2005 with burial directly afterwards in Oakdale Cemetery, Wilmington.
