Benefit car wash to be held Saturday

A benefit car wash will be held for the Tommy Rushing family at Grubby's on Washington Road in Thomson this Saturday.

The car wash will start at 9 a.m. and run until 1 p.m. Cost of a car wash is $7.

The money raised from the car wash will be given to the Rushing family to help defray costs that have arisen due to Mr. Rushing have been involved in a golf cart accident recently near Macon.

Mr. Rushing, a longtime employee of Jefferson Energy Cooperative in Thomson, was still in the critical care unit of the Medical Center of Central Georgia in Macon on Tuesday, according to family members.

A special account also has been established in the name of Mr. Rushing at First Bank of Georgia. Donations can be made to: First Bank of Georgia, Donations to Tommy Rushing, P.O. Box 1560, Thomson, Ga. 30824.

Thomson ticket is lottery winner

A Louisville man is celebrating a Georgia Lottery win.

Thomas Walden, 41, played the Georgia Lottery instant game Lucky Dog and won $30,000.

White Oak Mart in Thomson sold the top prize ticket. Mr. Walden, an auto parts store employee, purchased the ticket on his way to work.

According to Mr. Walden, who is the father of a 13-year-old son, he is still deciding how to use his winnings.

"I don't know yet," he said. "Probably save it."
