WARRENTON, Ga. - Mrs. Pansy Raley Stanley, 91, beloved wife of the late Mr. Julian W. Stanley, died Tuesday, May 27, 2008, at University Hospital in Augusta.
Funeral services were held at 4 p.m. Thursday, May 29, 2008, at the First Baptist Church of Warrenton with the Rev. Mark Winstead and Dr. Ray Hope officiating. Burial followed in the Long Creek Baptist Church Cemetery.
Mrs. Stanley, a native and lifelong resident of Warren County, was the daughter of the late Mr. Gordon and Mabel Dawson Raley. She was retired from the Warren County Board of Education as a lunchroom manager and member of the First Baptist Church of Warrenton, the Laura Lee Sunday School Class, the W.M.U. and taught various Sunday School classes for many years.
Survivors include: five daughters, Ellen S. Bush, N. Augusta, S.C., Pansy S. Josey, Augusta, Jean S. (Branson) Kent, Warrenton, Julie S. (Joe) Felton, Augusta, and Ann S. (Grady) Temple, North Augusta, S.C.; one son, Willis Stanley, Warrenton; seven grandchildren, Roxie Bush, Sandra Josey Thomas, Chris Josey, Marcy Josey Hartley, Jon Kent, Amy Kent Hadden, and Fran Felton Hickman; seven great-grandchildren, Courtney Thomas, Steven Giles, Dalton Hartley, Spencer Hadden, Mason Kent, Gracie Kent, and Landon Kent; her caregiver, Nellie Hunt.
Mrs. Stanley was preceded in death by two sons-in-law, Billy Bush and Hugh Josey.
Pallbearers were Chris Josey, Todd Thomas, Jon Kent, Steven Giles, Andrew Hadden, Spencer Hadden, and Bobby Hickman. Honorary Pallbearers were Deacons of First Baptist Church and the members of the Laura Lee Sunday School Class.
