DEARING, Ga. - Mrs. Allean "Big Mama" Washington Neal, 86, wife of the late Mr. Samuel Detroit Neal, of Dearing, entered into rest Saturday, June 4, 2005.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Monday, June 6, 2005, at the Silver Run Baptist Church, Harlem, with the Rev. Jerry Pitman officiating. Interment followed in the Neal family cemetery.
Mrs. Neal, a native of McDuffie County, was a member of Silver Run Baptist Church.
Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Delle and Hoke Smith, of Dearing; two granddaughters, Brenda and Barry Hawkins, and Vickie and B.J. Crosby, of Dearing; great-grandchildren, Steven and Dianne Hawkins, Kevin and Kara Hawkins, Amanda Crosby, Amy and Brett Usry, and Jay Crosby; six great- great-grandchildren; one sister, Marie Petrusick, Lexington, S.C.; two sisters-in-law, Virginia Washington and Earline Mullikin; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Detroit Neal and a great-great-grandson, Zachary Hawkins.
Pallbearers were Dennis Washington, Sammy McNair, Charles Washington, Warren Sellars, John Washington.
Honorary Pallbearers were Daniel Cason and Martin Washington.
