Mr. Edward L. Coleman
Retired Civil Welding Nuclear Engineer & World War II Veteran

HARLEM, Ga. - Mr. Edward L. Coleman, 80, beloved husband and father, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, June 6, 2007, at his residence.

A graveside funeral service was held Friday, June 8, 2007, 10 a.m. at Harlem Memorial Cemetery with Dr. Ron Drawdy officiating.

Mr. Coleman was the son of the late Ambus Bandy and Susie Coleman from Tallassee, Alabama. He was a Harlem resident for 41 years. Mr. Coleman served the United States Navy during World War II and retired from Georgia Power Company. Mr. Coleman loved boating and fishing and surrounded himself with friends and family. He was a member of Second Baptist Church, Thomson, and loved the Lord his God.

He is preceded in death By his parents, A.B. and Susie Coleman; brothers and sisters, Oren D. Coleman, James Monroe Coleman, Lilly Maud Snider, Elizabeth Coleman; and grandson, Travis Coleman.

Survivors include his wife, Sarah Joyce Coleman; six children, Gloria Jean Langston, Beaufort, S.C., Larry James Coleman, Harlem, Terry Wayne Coleman, Summerville, S.C., Mitchell Lamar Coleman, Harlem, Victoria Ann Burrell, Harlem, Ga., and Lynda Diane Wilson, North Augusta, S.C.; 16 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. Pallbearers were Thomas Burrell, Victoria Burrell, Jimmy Coleman, Jacob Pittman, Bernon Thomas, Gabriel Trull, Gordon Watkins, Jeff Watkins, and Jody Wilson.

If so desired, memorial contributions may be made to Second Baptist Church, 1249 Earle Street, Thomson, Georgia 30824.

Starling Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
