Kacy Jackson is joining middle school students from across the United States and Canada at the Junior National Young Leaders Conference, which ends June 15. Themed "The Legacy of American Leadership," the conference introduces young people to the rich tradition of leadership throughout American history.

Kacy was nominated to attend this conference by her teacher, Beth Newsome.

During the six-day program, scholars take part in educational activities and presentations, as well as meet with elected officials and key Congressional staff members on Capitol Hill. Students also visit historical sites, such as Harpers Ferry, the National Museum of American History and Washington D.C.'s monuments and memorials.

Kacy's trip was sponsored by the following people and businesses: her parents, Warren and Imogene Handley, John Sickels Baseball Prospect Book, Marsh and Gwen Jackson, Lenny Schaeffer - State Farm Insurance, Dr. Curtis Pickard, Kay Kendrick - Cut & Style, Kitty Hawkins - Hawkins Logging & Timber Company, Thomson Middle School, Regions Bank and The McDuffie Mirror.
