Davis-Popplewell

Allison Rebecca Popplewell of Appling and Christopher James Davis of Thomson were united in marriage at 4 p.m. on June 11, 2005, at Kiokee Baptist Church in Appling. Kiokee Baptist is the oldest Baptist church in Georgia, founded in 1772.

Special music was provided by Kristi Davis of Key West, Fla., sister-in-law of the groom and Hannah Clair of Augusta, friend of the bride. Programs were handed out by Tyler Douglas Popplewell, Evans, cousin of the bride. Organist was Mrs. Patricia Lokey of Dearing and pianist was Mrs. Elizabeth Nordan of Appling.

The bride was escorted by her father.

Maid of honor was Adrienne Rachel Popplewell, sister of the bride, of Appling. Matron of Honor was Stacy Gentry McKenzie, friend of the bride, of Grovetown.

Bridesmaids were Abby Sanderlin Peoples, Appling, cousin of the bride; Crystal Collins Carey, Appling, friend of the bride; Jessica Nicole Newsome, Augusta, friend of the bride; and Courtney Manuel Hayes, Appling, friend of the bride and groom.

Flowergirls were Madison Grace Hamlin, North Augusta, S.C.; Morgan Elizabeth Popplewell, Evans; Jordan Layne Veneklasen, Appling; and Emily Elaine Rowe, Sugar Hill; all cousins of the bride.

Best man was Joseph Allen Davis, brother of the groom, of Key West, Fla.

Groomsmen were Evan Michael Popplewell, Appling, brother of the bride; Brandon Paul Davis, Wrens, cousin of the groom; Charles Wayne Davis, Jr., Wrens, cousin of the groom; Donald Lindsey Dozier, Appling, cousin of the groom; Nicholas Lee Hayes, Appling, friend of the bride and groom.

Ushers were Tyler Stephen Sims and Chandler Harris Sims, of Grovetown, both are friends of the bride and groom.

Ring bearers were Justin Alan Rowe, Sugar Hill; and Cole Alexander Pearson, Appling, both cousins of the bride.

The bride is the daughter of Michael and Christie Popplewell of Appling. She is the granddaughter of Mrs. Rachel P. Veneklasen, Appling and the late Morris Berend Veneklasen of Appling and Mr. William A. Popplewell of Augusta and the late Betty Ann Popplewell of Augusta.

The groom's parents are Mrs. Ray Hawkins of Thomson and Mr. Franklin James Davis of Wrens. He is the grandson of Mr. Ray Barretto of Stockton, CA and the late Mrs. Sally Barretto of Stockton and Mr. and Mrs. Charles Davis of Wrens.

A reception was held in the Kiokee Baptist Church Fellowship Hall.

The guest book was attended by Haley Elizabeth Pearson of Appling, cousin of the bride.

The rehearsal dinner, hosted by the family of the groom, was held at the Kiokee Baptist Church Fellowship Hall with a country picnic theme.

The couple left for a honeymoon in New Orleans. They will reside in Appling.
