Carrie Ann Richards of Thomson and Joshua Aaron Edwards of Marysville, Ohio were united in marriage in an impressive double ring ceremony at 6 p.m. Saturday, February 26, 2005, at Raysville Boat Club in Thomson. Rev. Larron Pilgrim of Union Baptist Church of Thomson officiated.
The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John W. Richards of Thomson. She is the granddaughter of Mrs. Juanita H. Johnson and the late Mr. Ryan A. Johnson and the late Claude N. and Eleanor G. Richards of Thomson.
The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Douglas Williams, Jr. of Marysville, Ohio. He is the grandson of Wilbur and Betty Thacker, Douglas Williams, Sr. and John and Ruth Crabbe, all of Marysville, Ohio.
The entrance of the clubhouse and all throughout featured lush Boston ferns, fichus trees and spiral candelabras with ivory silk and tulle bows furnished by Connie Richards, Anna Kelley and Debbie Lokey. Upon entering the clubhouse guests were greeted by friends of the bride, Carol and Lacey Land, who directed them to the signing of the bride's book.
Kenny and Frankie Hill provided various wedding hymns and songs as the family and guests were seated; while photographer, Lisa Banister, captured every moment of the ceremony and reception and Lacey Land caught every moment on video.
Amy Wheatley, sister of the bride, was matron of honor. Bridesmaids were friends, Mandy Murray of Statesboro, Hope Davis of Milledgeville and cousin, Leslie Richards of Thomson.
Matt Edwards, brother of the groom, was best man. Groomsmen were Douglas Williams, Jr. and brothers, Kyle and Tad Williams, all of Marysville, Ohio.
Connie Richards, aunt of the bride, served as the wedding coordinator.
Following the ceremony the reception was held at the clubhouse. The delicious food was prepared by Bob and Shirley Keith, Kelli Caston, Maggie McDaniel, and Beverly and Amber Guy as a wedding gift to the couple.
Following the reception the couple left for a week-long cruise to the Cayman Islands and Cozumel, Mexico.
Prior to the ceremony numerous showers and parties were held in honor of the couple. The bachelorette party was given by Carrie's sister, bridesmaids and friends. The bachelor party was given by Josh's brothers, family and friends. Four separate showers were given by Carolyn Gilbert; Carol and Lacey Land and Marie Evans; Hope Davis and Mandy Murray and staff at Augusta Technical College in Thomson; and a rehearsal dinner honoring Carrie and Josh given by Josh's parents, Doug and Crystal Williams.
Mr. and Mrs. Edwards are making their home in Thomson.
