Winfield Baldwin Scott and Martha Newell McFadyen were united in marriage on Saturday, April 9, 2005 at 5:30 p.m. at The Wyndham Sugar Bay Resort in St. Thomas, U.S. Virgin Isles at the St. John's Terrace.


Music was provided by a violinist playing "Jesu, Joy of Man's Desire" and "Canon in D" Pachelbel.

The bride, escorted by her father, James Laurence McFadyen, wore a vintage gown (bride's mother's gown) with a diamond white Italian chiana v-neckline front and back with an empire waist chapel train that was bustled for reception. She carried a bouquet of long stemmed champagne wrapped tropical cymbidium orchids with white stargazer lilies and greenery.

Maid of honor was Miss Mary Kathryn McFadyen of Thomson, sister of the bride. Matron of honor was Mrs. Clay Burckhalter of Augusta, friend of the bride. Bridesmaids were Miss Natalie Haywood and Mrs. Earl Love, both friends of the bride from Augusta.

The bride's attendants wore tea-length fuschia silk with a v-neckline and carried identical flowers to those of the bride.

The groom wore a classic poplin two-button suit with white oxford dress shirts. He chose Mr. Jason Hatcher of Marietta for his best man.

Groomsmen were Mr. Jerome Baisden of Atlanta, friend of the groom; and Mr. Robert Eugster of Atlanta, stepbrother. The groom's attendants were dressed in identical suits and wore a boutonniere of cymbidium orchids.

The bride is the daughter of Jim and Susan McFadyen. The bride's mother wore a tea-length lupine silk chiffon with cascading capelet with poetic neckline. She wore a wrist corsage of cymbidium orchids.

The bride is the granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. D.B. McFadyen of Raeford, N.C. and Mr. and Mrs. Robert Scannell of Mt. Pleasant, S.C.

The groom is the son of Mr. Edwin Clark Scott of Johnston, S.C. and the late Mrs. Rebecca Coleman Eugster.

Roses were displayed in remembrance of Mrs. Rebecca Coleman Eugster and Mr. Mitchell Scott of Louisville.

The groom's grandparents are Mrs. Annie Mae Scott and the late Mr. Edwin Clark Scott of Johnson, S.C. and Mrs. Jean Coleman and the late Mr. Martin Teague Coleman of Ocala, FL.

A reception was held at Ocean View Terrace at the Sugar Bay Resort Manor House Restaurant. After the reception the couple spent their honeymoon in St. Thomas. They are residing in Louisville.
